Crisis of European leadership: "The EU's position is miserable"

    From 🇦🇷 Cara o Ceca, published at 2026-01-15 18:00

MEP Joao Oliveira, of the Portuguese Communist Party, criticized the direction of the bloc and its leaders, who, as he stated in 'Cara o Ceca', "serve the USA". "The EU's position is miserable. We have seen statements of submission towards the USA, a country that violated Venezuela's sovereignty and kidnapped its president to seize its resources. The EU does not condemn this, and it is not acceptable," said Oliveira. This Saturday the 17th, the EU-Mercosur agreement will finally be signed, against which European farmers have staged multiple demonstrations because they consider it a threat to their primary production. "We are trying to prevent the process from moving forward because we know it is very detrimental to workers, the people, and the sovereignty of countries. It will be discussed in the plenary session of the European Parliament so that the agreement can be blocked and not applied," emphasized the MEP. "The procedure to approve this agreement was not democratic, and that is why we want to stop it," he concluded.

    256. Be Kind: The Most Overlooked Driver of Success

From 🇺🇸 Think Fast Talk Smart: Communication Techniques, published at 2026-01-15 14:00

Why being kind is the best investment. Can kindness be a company’s competitive advantage? Bonnie Hayden Cheng says yes — and she’s got a business metric to prove it: return on kindness.Cheng is a professor of management at City University of Hong Kong who researches how workplace behaviors affect interpersonal dynamics and well-being. In her book, The Return on Kindness, she explores how organizations that foster a culture of kindness see a measurable ROK — one marked by a more committed, more productive, and less expensive workforce. “Organizations that have this kind of culture around acts of civic virtue, helping, or showing support for people, those end up having employees that want to stay, are less likely to call in sick, are more committed, their performance goes up,” she says. “There's also benefits for the company in terms of higher productivity and efficiency, and even lower costs.”In this episode of Think Fast, Talk Smart, Cheng and host Matt Abrahams explore how to build cultures of kindness — from Cheng’s RISE framework for kind leadership to why candor and compassion go hand-in-hand. Whether you're leading a team or simply trying to show up better for your colleagues, Cheng offers a compelling case for measuring what really matters: the return on kindness.Episode Reference Links:Bonnie Hayden ChengBonnie’s Book: The Return on KindnessEp.93 All the Feels: The Personal and Professional Power of Emotional AwarenessEp.132 Lean Into Failure: How to Make Mistakes That WorkConnect:Premium Signup >>>> Think Fast Talk Smart PremiumEmail Questions & Feedback >>> [email protected] Transcripts >>> Think Fast Talk Smart WebsiteNewsletter Signup + English Language Learning >>> FasterSmarter.ioThink Fast Talk Smart >>> LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTubeMatt Abrahams >>> LinkedInChapters:(00:00) - Introduction (00:50) - What Is Kind Leadership? New Year, no need to start big. Just start in a way we can manage is enough.

From 🇹🇭 Mission To The Moon, published at 2026-01-15 13:00

Many people start the new year with similar feelings. It's as if the world tells us to begin again, but inside, it doesn't feel much different from before. There's the lingering fatigue, the unmet expectations, and the recurring question, "Will this year truly be better?" It comes up periodically, to the point where sometimes we can't help but wonder if, perhaps, we're not quite ready to start anew. But before drawing such a conclusion, let's explore together: why do we feel this way? What makes the new year feel like the same old year repeating? And what can we adjust to make this year start in a more comfortable way than before? #inspiration #newyear #podcast #missiontothemoon #missiontothemoonpodcast
