Today's Report - January 28, 2026
President Trump announced that his administration would conduct "some de-escalation" in Minnesota. Over the weekend in Minneapolis, agents of the federal Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) shot another person during an operation related to immigrant arrests in Minnesota. The victim was Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old nurse employed at a veterans' hospital. The commander of ICE operations in Minnesota and the head of the Department of Homeland Security claim that Pretti was aggressive and that the agents acted in self-defense. Widely available videos from the scene challenge this version. State authorities demanded the withdrawal of three thousand ICE agents from Minnesota, but the operation targeting immigrants continues, as do protests against ICE's presence in Minnesota and other states. Does President Trump really want to limit the agency's actions? Will those responsible for Pretti's death and the earlier killing of Renée Good be brought to justice? And how is the Trump administration coping with increasingly sharp criticism at home and abroad?Guest: Marcin Fatalski---------------------------------------------Report on the State of the World is a broadcast that exists thanks to our Patrons, join the fundraiser ➡️ https://patronite.pl/DariuszRosiakSubscribe to the Report on the State of the World newsletter ➡️ https://dariuszrosiak.substack.comReport T-shirts and mugs ➡️ https://patronite-sklep.pl/kolekcja/raport-o-stanie-swiata/ [Self-promotion]
