Chuck Searcy: Maybe 100 years, maybe never clear all the bombs and mines in Vietnam.
Chuck Searcy is one of the rare American veterans who returned to Vietnam after the war to... stay. He is the co-founder of Project RENEW – one of the largest humanitarian initiatives in Quang Tri to deal with remaining landmines and unexploded ordnance. For over 30 years, he has worked with international organizations and local communities to help millions of people live safely on the very land that was once fraught with danger. He is also the foreigner awarded the Friendship Medal by the State of Vietnam for his persistent contributions to peace and Vietnam-US relations. In the special month of April, Have A Sip had the opportunity to talk with him about his journey from "soldier" to peace builder, the relentless efforts to remove hundreds of thousands of remaining bombs, and his views on the "legacy of peace" that Vietnam has. Without opening up stories about the past war, the conversation will take you to stories of recovery, belief, compassion, and hope for the young Vietnamese generation. Welcome to episode 219, listen to the story from Chuck Searcy to know what you are inheriting, what foundation you are walking on, and what responsibility you have for the future. #HaveASip #Vietcetera #Vietcetera_Podcast #HAS219 — Don't forget you can watch the video version of this podcast at: YouTube And read interesting articles on the website: Vietcetera — If you like this podcast episode, you can donate at: ● Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/vietcetera ● Buy me a coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/vietcetera If you have any suggestions, feedback or desire to cooperate, you can send an email to [email protected]
