Finanzfluss Thomas Kehl - What should everyone know about finances?

From 🇩🇪 Hotel Matze, published at 2026-01-21 16:00

Thomas is the founder and face of Finanzfluss, an author, and one of the most well-known financial YouTubers in the German-speaking world. I wanted to know from him how to meaningfully set oneself up in the new year concerning one's finances – and what absolutely should not be overlooked in the process. We talk about financial self-determination, ETF savings plans, and the question of how a small family can save effectively, it's about lifestyle inflation, dreams like a Rolex or a Porsche, and what happens when money is no longer the main motivation. Today's Report - January 21, 2026

From 🇵🇱 Raport o stanie świata Dariusza Rosiaka, published at 2026-01-21 13:08

After Donald Trump's threat to impose additional tariffs on products from countries that, in a gesture of solidarity with Denmark, sent small military units to Greenland, tension between Europe and the United States reached its highest level in decades. The US President already announces daily the takeover of Greenland – if there is no other way, then by force. In response to his words, Ursula von der Leyen speaks of the end of the rules-based world as we know it and announces a stern response from Europe. The French President threatens to activate the so-called anti-coercion instrument, meaning an open trade war. Even the British Prime Minister, previously shying away from criticizing Washington, acknowledged that the Americans had crossed a "red line". The transatlantic conflict remains primarily a dispute over tariffs and words; its next chapter is currently unfolding in Davos, where Trump is scheduled to speak tonight. But in Brussels, London, and Berlin, voices are already being heard about the end of the 80-year-old great alliance of Western nations – and hitherto improbable scenarios are being considered here. What will happen if the Americans seize Greenland by force? Does such an attack mean the end of NATO? Or perhaps it already exists mainly on paper? What ideas does Europe have for a potential new military alliance? And how might Poland react in this situation?Guest: Marek Świerczyński---------------------------------------------Raport o stanie świata (Report on the State of the World) is a broadcast that exists thanks to our Patrons, join the fundraiser ➡️ https://patronite.pl/DariuszRosiakSubscribe to the Raport o stanie świata newsletter ➡️ https://dariuszrosiak.substack.comRaport T-shirts and mugs ➡️ https://patronite-sklep.pl/kolekcja/raport-o-stanie-swiata/ [Self-promotion]

【The Unclear Talkshow】Cha Jianying, David: America's Red Line, Has China Won Again?

    From 🇨🇳 不明白播客, published at 2026-01-21 12:36

Recently, a term has suddenly become popular on the Chinese internet: "kill line."Since early November, from patriotic bloggers to media outlets like Guancha.cn, Beijing Daily, and Southern Daily, and now even the CCP's theoretical journals Qiushi and People's Daily, all have begun systematically "seizing upon" this internet buzzword, which carries strong emotional overtones. They use it to explain America's problems with poverty, healthcare, debt, and homelessness, framing it as a "true operating logic of American society."Why has the topic of America's "kill line" become so popular on the Chinese internet? Is it a reinterpretation of "socialism is good, capitalism is bad," or a true reflection of American society? This episode's Talkshow guests are writer Zha Jianying and Robert Daly, who has long been engaged in Sino-US cultural exchange and research on Sino-US relations policy. In the program, we also discussed: Why does America have 770,000 homeless people? Why are there no rough sleepers visible on the streets of China? Is the $140,000 safety line for ordinary Americans and Vance selling blood to survive true or false? Why is China suddenly concerned about America's poverty problem? American poor people are unwilling to tax the rich, what are the differences in mentality between the people of the two countries? Thanks to Mosavi for supporting this episode. From the archive: The bow

    From 🇩🇪 Mordlust, published at 2026-01-21 04:00

Unfortunately, we had to extend our winter break by two weeks for personal reasons. We are incredibly sorry for this. To cheer you up a little, today we're releasing an episode from the archive that is very close to our hearts. Regularly, we will continue here on February 4th with a new, exciting episode. Recently, a crime that cost more lives than most offenses previously covered on this podcast marked its 14th anniversary. Those involved did not use knives, pistols, or other weapons for the crime. Rather, their arrogance and lack of responsibility led to this act. In this episode of “Mordlust - Crimes and their Backgrounds,” Laura and Paulina discuss the case of the Costa Concordia - one of the biggest shipping disasters of our time. Matthias and Marcel are sitting in the bar of the cruise ship that has taken them on a seven-day Mediterranean round trip and served as their floating home. Tomorrow they will disembark, which is why they want to review their holiday one last time this evening. As 38-year-old Matthias goes to get more drinks, the ocean liner is suddenly shaken by a violent impact. A short time later, an announcement over the loudspeakers states it’s a power outage. Matthias and Marcel are not convinced. They head outside to see what's happening. Large air bubbles rise around the cruise ship. Not a good sign. As panic slowly breaks out on board, the two friends try to secure a spot on a lifeboat. In vain. A little later, they are trapped inside the ship as the Costa Concordia slowly fills with water. 32 dead, numerous injured, and the captain alone is said to be to blame. To this day, the question remains whether all those responsible have truly been held accountable. In this episode, we describe how the catastrophe could have happened, why the evacuation took so long, and speak with people who were there when the ship, which they believed to be unsinkable, was slowly swallowed by the sea. **Credit** Producers/Hosts: Paulina Krasa, Laura Wohlers Research: Paulina Krasa, Laura Wohlers, Vera Grün Editing: Pauline Korb **Shownotes** Sky Documentary: Costa Concordia – Chronicle of a Catastrophe The Radio Protocol: https://bit.ly/3i7LecC *Case* Image: 10 years ago the “Costa Concordia” sank: https://bit.ly/3WFeoyJ MZ: “Costa Concordia”: https://bit.ly/3IokrU6 Spiegel: Survivors of the “Costa” disaster: https://bit.ly/3Qa8Qd7 The Story: Costa Concordia The whole story Lies, Failure, Suffering: https://bit.ly/3jBMTre SWR Nachtcafé: When the dream becomes a nightmare: https://bit.ly/3CiEP5p Sueddeutsche: Nightmare in a loop: https://bit.ly/3WKK1XY FAZ: Costa Concordia Disaster: https://bit.ly/3WNMEs4 FAZ: Costa Concordia Doku on Sky: https://bit.ly/3i9RwZf *Trial* Sueddeutsche: Costa Concordia captain convicted: https://bit.ly/3WFi1F6 Sueddeutsche: "Costa Concordia" trial: https://bit.ly/3G9Ai6d Spiegel: "Costa Concordia" verdict confirmed: https://bit.ly/3Qc17v5 Spiegel: Verdict in the “Costa Concordia” trial: https://bit.ly/3X0gqJz Stern: Trial regarding the Costa Concordia disaster: https://bit.ly/3jL62qO Welt: Trial against Captain Schettino is great theater: https://bit.ly/3vFlY0l Spiegel: The helpful Capitano: https://bit.ly/3GygFpQ ARD MM: Costa Concordia Trial: https://bit.ly/3G4KuwI **Episode Partner** Would you like to learn more about our advertising partners? ICE: the repressive arm of Trump's immigration policy

    From 🇧🇷 O Assunto, published at 2026-01-21 03:39

Guests: Pedro de Abreu Gomes dos Santos, professor of Political Science at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University, in Minnesota; and with Gabrielle Oliveira, professor of Education and Immigration at Harvard University and author of the podcast "Uma Estrangeira" (A Foreigner). A family with six children, including a six-month-old baby, was caught in the middle of a confrontation between protesters and agents of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, in Minneapolis. The car was surrounded, grenades were launched, and a tear gas canister rolled under the vehicle, causing the airbags to explode and filling the interior with smoke. The incident occurred amidst a wave of protests following the death of 37-year-old American Renée Nicole Good, who was shot by an ICE agent in early January. Since then, videos show violent approaches, arrests without explanation, and the use of force against protesters and ordinary families. To explain how ICE emerged and expanded, Natuza Nery interviews Gabrielle Oliveira, professor of Education and Immigration at Harvard University. Author of the podcast Uma Estrangeira, Gabrielle also discusses how the American government increased the recruitment of agents, reduced training time, and began deploying these teams in cities and states without authorization from local governments. Previously, the conversation is with Pedro de Abreu Gomes dos Santos, professor of Political Science at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University, in Minnesota. He explains why the state became a target for Trump and recounts his experience encountering ICE agents. Finally, he, who is a naturalized American, is married to an American, and has American children, speaks of his fear of being separated from his family.

An entire building for rent, with a superintendent who handles every malfunction and a shared laundry room - this is a common rental model in the USA, but almost non-existent in Israel. How did it happen that only one project in Haifa operates this way, why the state failed to develop an institutional rental market, and what is the chance that one building will change the entire Israeli rental market? The Past and Future of Security Assistance

From 🇮🇱 אחד ביום (Echad Ba'Yom), published at 2026-01-21 02:50

Last week, Prime Minister Netanyahu was interviewed by the British magazine "The Economist." The conversation touched on many topics: Gaza, Iran, and Israel's standing in the world. But the main headline was actually related to the relationship between Israel and the United States. Because during the conversation, Netanyahu said that he intends to completely end Israel's dependence on American security aid within a decade – a statement that constitutes a very dramatic change in Israeli policy. But this story, it turns out, is not really about what Netanyahu wants to say and about Israel's intentions, but rather about what the United States wants to hear. So this time, with the help of Prof. Eitan Gilboa, an expert on US-Israel relations at Bar-Ilan and Reichman Universities, we will talk about the past and future of security aid from the United States to Israel.

Wednesday and the block! Martin has recently discovered that people are using photos they take with him as their profile picture on dating apps, and wonders if single people consider that sexy? Martin started saying "slay" as a joke, but now he says it unironically when, for example, there's a special offer on tortillas. In addition, he talks about what his 'russetid' (graduation celebration period) was like back in the days - and that the wild partying and intoxication were possibly his favorite things about it. Martin also shares his most embarrassing stand-up story, and finally, he calls fellow comedian Martha Leivestad to hear what her New Year's resolutions are.
