Colonialism is not only a political process, but above all a psychological and cultural one. To achieve full freedom, it is not enough to obtain state sovereignty, but "decolonization of the mind" is necessary - said the hero of this episode, the outstanding Kenyan writer Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o. He put this idea into practice and at the height of his literary career he abandoned English and began writing his books in his native Kikuyu language. With this gesture, Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o wanted to show that the key to a strong African identity - both political and cultural - is indigenous languages, because only in them can one write about freedom and dignity. Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o did not manage to get the Nobel Prize in Literature, which his devoted readers had been waiting for for the last decades. He died at the age of 87. „There should be a special punctuation mark. A graphic equivalent of a laryngeal spasm,” wrote Marcin Wicha about his mother in the book *Things I Didn't Throw Away*. It is no coincidence that the episode of Report on Books dedicated to the memory of Marcin Wicha falls on Mother's Day. He didn't want to call himself a writer – he preferred to be called a graphic artist. Word and image were part of one whole for him: "A poorly written sentence looks bad. These are inseparable things," he said in one of the interviews. He had an eye for detail – he could spot them and describe them in such a way that they went beyond their insignificance. Because in Marcin Wicha's thinking, the objects that surround us and the landscape do not constitute the background of our lives, but to a large extent its content. He was good and wise, he wanted to change the world for the better, and yet he avoided the pathos of pedagogical conclusions. There was enormous power of language in his writing, and at the same time he admitted that there are moments in life when words are helpless. Canada, France and the UK jointly condemned Israel for escalating military operations in the Strip and blocking aid deliveries. After 11 weeks of blockade, Israel announced the resumption of aid deliveries to the Palestinian population, but by Tuesday only 93 trucks had entered the enclave – it is not entirely clear whether food distribution took place. The Israeli government defends the decision to escalate violence. One of the ministers announces that the entire Gaza will be destroyed and people pushed to a small patch of land in the south of the Strip. In the fifth episode of the fourth season of Arabian Tales, Jan Natkański will talk about Morocco - a country considered in the Arab world as the far west - Maghreb al-Aqsa. The first rulers of Morocco were Berbers. It was not until the 11th century that a wave of tribes from the Arabian Peninsula to North Africa began the process of not only Islamization, but also Arabization. The 19th century brought European rivalry for Morocco and the weakening of the sultan's power. In the 1930s, the independence opposition began to take shape, and in 1956 Morocco became a sovereign country.
